LexCard is completely free and requires no account creation. Simply visit lexcard.jp and start browsing. You can search, read, and explore all 9,000+ Japanese statutes immediately.

Optional Account

Creating a free account unlocks additional features: bookmarking laws, tracking reading history, saving preferences, receiving law change notifications, and using the AI assistant.

Full-Text Search

Use the search bar at the top to find statutes by title, article number, or content. Results include all matching articles across all laws. Click any result to jump directly to the relevant article.

Browse by Category

Laws are organized into 50 legal categories (e.g., Constitutional Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law). Access categories from the homepage or navigation menu.

Prefecture Ordinances

Browse ordinances from all 47 Japanese prefectures. Each prefecture page shows local laws and regulations specific to that region.

Direct Editing

Open any statute and click the edit button to modify article text directly in the browser. The system tracks your changes automatically.

Comparison Tables

After editing, LexCard generates a side-by-side comparison table showing original and amended text. This follows the standard Japanese legislative format.

Formal Amendment Text

The system auto-generates formal amendment text following Japanese legislative drafting conventions. This text can be used as a starting point for official amendment proposals.

Ask Legal Questions

Use the AI assistant to ask questions about Japanese law. It searches across 36,000+ articles using vector embeddings and provides answers with source citations.

Summaries & Recommendations

Get AI-generated summaries of complex statutes and receive recommendations for related laws. The AI uses multiple models optimized for legal content.

Track Legal Changes

The Law Calendar shows upcoming law promulgation and enforcement dates. Click any date to see which laws are being enacted or coming into force.

iCal Subscription

Subscribe to the law calendar via iCal for automatic sync with Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple Calendar. Available after creating a free account.

Keyboard Navigation

LexCard supports full keyboard navigation. Use Tab to move between elements, Enter to activate buttons and links, and arrow keys to navigate the calendar grid.

Dark Mode

Switch between 6 visual themes including dark mode from the Settings page. The system also respects your operating system's color scheme preference.

Install as App

LexCard is a Progressive Web App. On mobile, use your browser's "Add to Home Screen" option to install it as a standalone app with offline capability.
